Overview
Drifeter is a mobile drift-racing game built in Unity. Players steer by tapping either side of the screen, and a custom physics model turns those simple inputs into weighty, momentum-driven drifts.
What starts as a casual time-killer grows into a progression system: earn experience and in-game currency, unlock vehicles, and upgrade handling to push higher scores on increasingly demanding tracks.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Tap-Based Steering — Tap the left or right side of the screen to initiate drifts in that direction.
- Physics-Based Movement — Vehicle momentum and weight shift realistically through each drift.
- Progression System — Gain experience and currency through skillful play and completed challenges.
- Vehicle Customization — Unlock and upgrade handling, drift capability, and other performance traits.
- Dynamic Tracks — Race procedurally generated tracks that scale in difficulty as you improve.
Technology Stack
- Unity Engine — Core framework for physics, rendering, and cross-platform mobile builds.
- C# — Primary language for game logic, state management, and mechanics.
- Custom Physics System — Tuned drift model built on top of Unity's physics to get the right feel.
- SQLite — Local database for progression, statistics, and unlocked content.
- Mobile Input Optimization — Responsive touch controls designed around one-thumb play.
Future Plans
Drifeter is actively developed with several features on the roadmap: multiplayer racing, ghost challenges against other players' best times, additional vehicle types with unique handling, and a track editor for creating and sharing custom courses.
